Bukhara State Medical Institute for Indian Students 2026
Bukhara State Medical Institute for Indian students is frequently promoted for English-medium medical education in Uzbekistan. Families should look beyond a fee figure and verify the exact programme duration, internship, teaching and clinical languages, hospital training, degree title and local-registration pathway in writing.

Important 2026–2027 admission update for Indian students
Bukhara State Medical Institute announced on 5 June 2026 that admission of students from India is temporarily suspended for the 2026–2027 academic year. Do not pay an application, tuition or intermediary fee for this intake unless the institute publishes a later official reopening notice.

Quick answer: is Bukhara State Medical Institute suitable for Indian students?
Abu Ali ibn Sino Bukhara State Medical Institute is a government medical institution established in 1990. Its current official overview lists General Medicine as a six-year programme, states that education is provided in English among other languages and reports clinical training across 60 clinics and diagnostic centres.
However, another official international-faculty page contains conflicting duration wording, including five years and a reference to five years and six months with rotating practice. Indian applicants should not resolve this conflict through an agent’s explanation. Obtain a signed, intake-specific curriculum and internship plan from the institute and compare it with current NMC requirements before paying.

Official programme-duration information is inconsistent
The institute’s current institutional overview, updated in 2026, lists General Medicine as a six-year programme. It also states that the institute has 53 departments, a simulation centre and clinical training at 60 clinics and diagnostic centres.
The official International Medical Faculty page uses different wording. It describes an MBBS course as five years and six months including one year of rotating practice, while a separate “Duration of training” field says five years.
This is not a minor website error for an Indian applicant. NMC’s FMGL framework requires programme and internship conditions that must be verified precisely. Ask BSMI for:
- the total programme duration in months;
- the number of months of classroom and clinical medical education;
- a separate internship’s duration, institution and hospital locations;
- the academic calendar and semester structure;
- the qualification and degree title awarded;
- how the internship appears on the transcript and completion documents; and
- eligibility for medical registration or licensing in Uzbekistan.
Do not accept a verbal statement that “six years includes everything.” The written curriculum, internship order and contract must agree.
English-medium instruction needs programme-level proof
BSMI’s official overview says the institute provides education in English, and its international admission page includes an English-language interview option. These facts support the existence of English instruction but do not alone prove that every lecture, examination, clinical rotation and internship activity for one intake is conducted in English.
Request a university letter confirming:
- English as the medium for the complete General Medicine programme;
- the language used for written and practical examinations;
- the language used during clinical teaching;
- the Uzbek or Russian language preparation provided for patient communication;
- the language used for internship records and supervision; and
- whether any year or module moves to another campus, institution or country.
NMC/FMGL checks before applying
The National Medical Commission’s 1 April 2026 Uzbekistan alert asks Indian students to perform due diligence and comply strictly with the Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations, 2021.
Verify official evidence for:
- at least 54 months of medical education;
- a separate 12-month internship at the same foreign medical institution;
- English as the medium for the required programme;
- the prescribed subjects, practical work and clinical training;
- education, clinical training and internship within the permitted institution and country structure;
- eligibility to obtain the relevant licence or registration in Uzbekistan; and
- the examination and supervised-internship requirements applicable in India.
Read the NMC and FMGL eligibility guide. NMC does not publish a blanket list of approved foreign medical universities. Institutional accreditation or a directory listing does not replace programme-level compliance.
Accreditation and institutional evidence
BSMI states that it holds Uzbek state accreditation and that its General Medicine and Dentistry programmes have ECAQA accreditation valid until 2030. It also reports more than 2,100 international students and education across several languages.
These are useful institutional facts. They do not guarantee NMC eligibility, an Indian medical licence, admission, visa approval, FMGE/NExT performance or a particular clinical outcome. Verify the accreditor, scope, programme, campus and validity directly, then separately check the Indian regulatory conditions.
International admission process
BSMI’s official international admission procedure says foreign applicants are admitted through an interview in biology, chemistry and the language of instruction, with English or Russian listed as language options.
- Check eligibility: review Class 12 Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English marks, NEET validity, age, passport status and the current university conditions.
- Choose the exact programme and language: the application should identify the programme, language and form of study.
- Submit through one official route: the university page says applicants should choose either in-person submission, the official email route or the published online form.
- Attend the official interview: prepare for biology, chemistry and the selected language of instruction.
- Verify the offer: check the university name, programme, campus, duration, language, fees and conditions directly with BSMI.
- Review the contract before payment: identify tuition, every compulsory charge, refund terms and the official recipient account.
- Complete visa and arrival steps: follow current university and Uzbekistan instructions for the invitation, A-1 student visa, registration and medical checks.

Tuition fees and the complete cost
The official international-faculty page publishes an international-student range of USD 3,000–5,500. A range is not an invoice. It may cover different programmes, years, language tracks or student categories, and it does not establish what an Indian student will pay in 2026.
Ask for a dated, signed fee schedule covering:
- tuition for every year or semester;
- application, interview, invitation and registration charges;
- laboratory, examination and clinical fees;
- internship and graduation expenses;
- hostel, deposit, utilities and meals;
- insurance, medical tests and residence registration;
- visa, travel and airport transfer;
- books, uniforms and clinical equipment;
- agency or service charges;
- fee-increase and currency-conversion conditions; and
- withdrawal and refund terms.
Use the MBBS in Uzbekistan total-cost guide to build base, higher-cost and stress scenarios for the full course.
Clinical training and hospitals
The institute reports that clinical training is conducted at 60 clinics and diagnostic centres. This is an institutional total, not a guarantee that one international programme uses every facility or offers a specific level of patient exposure.
Request the current General Medicine curriculum and the names of hospitals assigned to international students. Ask for rotation timing, patient-contact arrangements, supervision, clinical-language expectations, logbooks, assessments and the separate internship schedule. Also verify transport, uniform, equipment and examination costs.
Hostel and private accommodation
BSMI’s student-accommodation department reported 1,740 dormitory beds across two locations in its July 2025 update. It also described a rental-housing support list for students who sought private accommodation.
The total number of beds is lower than the institute’s published overall student population, so do not assume a room is guaranteed. Obtain a written offer showing the building, room occupancy, facilities, distance from teaching sites, tariff, deposit, utilities, allocation period and residence rules.
Prepare a private-housing alternative with rent, security deposit, utilities, internet, furniture and transport. Ask current students for recent, dated examples.
Student visa and arrival planning
Uzbekistan’s official visa guidance describes the A-1 student visa for foreign students studying on a permanent basis. Confirm the invitation or TELEX process, visa validity, medical insurance, arrival dates and local registration directly with BSMI.
Do not book a non-refundable journey until the university confirms the correct visa and arrival window. Carry the official offer, payment receipt, visa documents, insurance, medical records and accommodation details.

Is Bukhara State Medical Institute approved by NMC?
NMC does not publish or endorse a blanket list of approved foreign medical universities. The exact programme and student must satisfy all applicable rules and licensing requirements.
Is General Medicine six years at BSMI?
The current official overview lists six years, while another official international-faculty page contains conflicting duration wording. Obtain a signed curriculum and separate internship plan for your intake before paying.
Is the complete programme taught in English?
The institute states that it provides English-language education and interviews applicants in English, but students still need programme-level confirmation covering every academic and clinical year, examination and internship activity.
What is the BSMI fee for Indian students in 2026?
An official page publishes a USD 3,000–5,500 international-student range. Request the exact programme- and intake-specific invoice and calculate hostel, living, visa, travel, insurance and all compulsory fees separately.
Is hostel guaranteed?
No published housing capacity should be treated as an individual guarantee. Ask for a written room allocation, full cost and conditions, and prepare a private-housing alternative.
Does accreditation or WDOMS listing guarantee Indian registration?
No. Accreditation and directory listings are different from compliance with Indian FMGL rules. Verify the exact programme, internship, language, clinical training and Uzbek licensing eligibility.
