Cost and intake information checked: 2 October 2026. Editorially reviewed by Dr. Akash Rao, Founder and International Education Consultant at Scholars Abroad.
The MBBS in Uzbekistan total cost for Indian students includes much more than tuition. Families need to calculate accommodation, food, visa and registration, insurance, travel, local-language preparation, clinical expenses, currency movement and costs connected with the Indian licensing pathway.
Cost must come after compliance. On 1 April 2026, the National Medical Commission issued a specific alert for Indian students considering undergraduate medical education in Uzbekistan. Before paying, verify the exact programme duration, English medium, clinical training, internship and local licensing eligibility in writing.
Quick answer: how much does MBBS in Uzbekistan cost?
There is no reliable single fee for every medical university in Uzbekistan. Your total depends on the exact programme, intake, payment period, housing and compulsory charges. An older website price is not a current offer or a complete course budget. Confirm that your intended intake is open to Indian applicants before requesting a dated university invoice.
Request a dated university invoice showing tuition, every compulsory charge, accommodation and the payment recipient. Then build the complete six-year budget with exchange-rate and fee-increase scenarios.
01 · University fees
Get the exact quotation
Match the legal university, programme, intake and payment period. Separate tuition from one-time and recurring compulsory charges.
02 · Full-course costs
Budget beyond tuition
Add housing, living, insurance, registration, travel and clinical expenses for every year of the confirmed programme and internship structure.
03 · Indian rupees
Convert each payment
Use a dated bank remittance rate for each currency, include transfer charges, and keep fee-revision and currency scenarios separate from the base budget.
Read the 2026 NMC Uzbekistan alert before comparing fees
The NMC’s 1 April 2026 Uzbekistan alert tells Indian applicants to perform due diligence and comply strictly with the Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations, 2021.
Obtain official evidence for all of the following:
- at least 54 months of medical education;
- a separate 12-month internship at the same foreign medical institution;
- English as the medium for the required programme;
- the required subjects, practical work and clinical training;
- training and internship completed within the permitted institution and country structure;
- eligibility for the medical-registration or licensing pathway in Uzbekistan; and
- the applicable examination and supervised-internship requirements in India.
Do not accept “NMC approved university” as proof. NMC does not provide a blanket approved list of foreign medical universities. Read our NMC and FMGL eligibility guide before shortlisting.
MBBS in Uzbekistan cost breakdown
| Cost category | What to collect | Common budgeting mistake |
|---|---|---|
| Tuition | Official annual fee for your programme, language track and intake | Using a website range as the final payable amount |
| University charges | Application, invitation, registration, laboratory, examination and graduation fees | Assuming everything is included in tuition |
| Accommodation | Dormitory availability, room type, deposit, utilities and payment period | Assuming a hostel bed is guaranteed |
| Food and daily living | Groceries, meals, transport, mobile service and personal spending | Using an undated estimate from another city |
| Visa and registration | Invitation, A-1 student visa, temporary registration and renewals | Budgeting only for the initial entry |
| Insurance and health | Annual cover, medical tests and uncovered treatment | Not reading the insurance exclusions |
| Travel | Flights, baggage, airport transfer and planned return journeys | Counting only the first journey |
| Clinical and language costs | Uniforms, equipment, hospital transport and Uzbek/Russian training | Assuming English-medium teaching removes clinical-language needs |
| India pathway | Documentation, licensing examination and applicable internship expenses | Ending the plan at foreign graduation |
| Contingency | Currency movement, fee revisions and emergencies | Keeping no reserve |

Bukhara: Indian admissions suspended for 2026–27
Bukhara State Medical Institute’s official notice dated 5 June 2026 announces a temporary suspension of admissions from India for the 2026–2027 academic year. As checked on 2 October 2026, the notice remains published; no later official reopening notice was found in the announcements checked.
Do not treat a Bukhara fee quotation as an available admission offer for this intake. Wait for an official reopening notice and verify its scope before submitting fees or application documents. Read the official suspension notice and our Bukhara intake guide.
University fee evidence: what is current and what is historical?
Targeted fee-document review: 16 October 2026. The Kimyo, Tashkent and Samarkand rows below reflect this review. Other rows retain their own check dates. A blank or unconfirmed amount is not a zero fee.
| University | Evidence and check date | Before budgeting or paying |
|---|---|---|
| Bukhara State Medical Institute | Checked 2 October 2026. The General Medicine page is dated 27 February 2024. Its fee information is historical and is not a verified 2026–27 contract. The separate Indian-admission suspension applies to 2026–27. | Await an official reopening notice. If admissions resume, request a new programme-specific contract, payment period, compulsory charges and housing terms. |
| Tashkent State Medical University | Fee-source check, 16 October 2026: the general international-applicant rules describe contract-based study but provide no usable programme-specific price. The separate 2026/27 foreign notice covers Russian/Uzbek admission; it is not an English-track fee quotation. | Obtain a dated foreign General Medicine contract for the intended language and intake, with currency, charge period, beneficiary and compulsory extras. Leave the tuition line unconfirmed until received. |
| Kimyo International University in Tashkent | Checked 16 October 2026: the international tuition table lists General Medicine at US$3,500 per academic year. It does not specify the academic year. | Confirm the rate for your intake and English group. Keep tuition separate from accommodation, compulsory extras and fee revisions; a published rate is not a complete course quotation. |
| Samarkand State Medical University | Document check, 16 October 2026: the official payment link opens a sample agreement (PDF) with unfilled year fields and no tuition amount. It is not a dated 2026/27 tariff. | Request a completed individual contract and itemised invoice. Resolve the legal payment recipient, any partner collection arrangement, charge period and refund conditions before budgeting a payable amount. |
| ZARMED University — medicine | Programme and portal-heading check, 10 October 2026: the official list describes six-year General Medicine. The admission portal has a 2026–27 heading, but a complete campus-specific international English-track quotation remains unconfirmed. No complete international English-track fee or payment period was verified. | Match the campus, language and cohort; obtain a dated contract and invoice. Separate compulsory university charges from optional coaching and third-party services. A programme list does not verify Indian registration eligibility or an available intake. |
For any university, compare the same evidence rather than headline tuition. A contract should distinguish annual or semester tuition from one-time charges and the complete programme cost. Verify admissions and programme eligibility independently of price. Our Uzbekistan country guide and Samarkand programme guide can help organise the questions; a guide is not proof that an intake is currently open.
Can this quotation enter your budget?
1 · Match the offer
Record the university, campus, programme, language group and academic intake. Resolve any different name on the contract or invoice.
2 · Match the money
Record the currency, amount, semester or year covered, due dates and compulsory extras. An unknown line stays unconfirmed, rather than being entered as zero.
3 · Match the payment
Check who receives each payment, what it buys, whether a deposit is credited against tuition, and the cancellation and refund terms. Keep agency services on a separate invoice.
Decision: a published tuition rate can support a provisional comparison. Use a completed university contract and invoice for payment decisions, then add the other full-course costs below.
Compare costs for your university shortlist
Start with the eight-university Uzbekistan comparison, then request a current programme-specific fee schedule and written contract. These guides identify checks to complete; they are not fixed-price quotations.
- Tashkent State Medical University
- Samarkand State Medical University
- Bukhara State Medical Institute
- Andijan State Medical Institute
- Namangan State University — medicine
- Urgench State Medical Institute
- ZARMED University — medicine
- Kimyo International University in Tashkent
Use the same tuition, compulsory charges, hostel, insurance, travel and personal-expense categories for each option. Confirm intake availability before treating a quotation as actionable.
Tuition and compulsory university charges
Ask the university to separate tuition from every other charge. The document should identify:
- the university’s legal name and receiving bank account;
- the exact programme and medium of instruction;
- the amount due before the visa invitation or enrolment;
- annual or semester payment dates;
- application, registration and invitation charges;
- laboratory, examination and clinical fees;
- internship-related fees;
- hostel and meal charges, if offered;
- commission or service charges paid to another entity;
- future fee-revision conditions; and
- the cancellation and refund policy.
A low tuition figure can be offset by commissions, accommodation, travel or compulsory add-ons. Compare the money received by the university with the total amount requested from your family.
Accommodation and living expenses
Uzbekistan does not have one student-living budget that applies to every city and housing arrangement. Tashkent, Bukhara, Samarkand, Andijan and other destinations can differ in rent, transport and food costs.
Dormitory verification
For a university with a verified open intake, ask for a written dormitory offer stating the address, room occupancy, facilities, tariff, deposit and duration. A description of housing capacity does not guarantee allocation. Housing information does not override an admission suspension.
If private housing may be required, budget for rent, security deposit, agent fees where applicable, utilities, internet, furniture and travel to the campus or hospital.
Food and transport
Prepare a monthly allowance for groceries, canteen meals, local transport, mobile service, toiletries and personal expenses. Ask current students in the same city and university for recent examples. Do not use a social-media estimate without a date and location.
Student visa, registration and insurance costs
Uzbekistan’s official visa information describes the A-1 student entry visa for foreign students studying on a permanent basis. It is issued for up to one year on the request of the educational institution.
Budget for:
- passport and document preparation;
- translations, notarisation and legalisation where required;
- the university’s invitation process;
- the initial visa;
- temporary residence or address registration;
- annual extensions or renewals;
- medical examinations; and
- health insurance.
Confirm which charges the university handles and which the student pays directly. Obtain receipts for every payment.
Travel and first-year setup
Include the flight to Uzbekistan, baggage, airport transfer and at least one planned return journey each year. Costs differ by departure city, route and booking date.
The first year may also require bedding, kitchen items, a local SIM, residence setup, books, uniforms and medical equipment. Keep an emergency-travel reserve in case the student must return to India unexpectedly.
Clinical training, internship and language costs
An English-medium letter must cover the complete programme, examinations and required clinical instruction. Students may still need Uzbek and/or Russian to communicate with patients and staff. Ask whether local-language classes are included in tuition and whether additional courses or examinations cost extra.
Request the names of teaching hospitals and a clinical schedule. Ask about transport, uniforms, equipment, logbooks, health checks and practical-examination fees. The internship document should state its duration, institution, hospitals, supervision and how completion appears on the transcript and certificate.
The NMC alert makes it especially important to reject vague or split-location arrangements. Do not accept a promise that an internship problem will be corrected after admission.
Currency and payment risk
University costs may be quoted in US dollars or Uzbek sums, while Indian families fund them in rupees. The final rupee amount therefore depends on the bank or authorised remittance rate and transaction charges.
For each payment, calculate:
Foreign-currency amount × the applicable remittance rate + bank, transfer and conversion charges.
How to record MBBS in Uzbekistan fees in Indian rupees
- Record the original amount, currency, payment date and the period it covers.
- Convert using the bank’s quoted INR cost per unit of that currency, with the quote date.
- Add transfer and conversion charges that are not already included in the quote.
- Add INR expenses separately, then total the payments for that year.
Keep the original currency alongside the INR estimate. A rupee conversion is a dated planning estimate, not a fixed university fee. The 10% and 20% scenarios below are illustrative stress tests, not exchange-rate forecasts.
Prepare three scenarios:
- Base case: current fee and remittance rate;
- Higher-cost case: a 10% increase in the rupee cost; and
- Stress case: a 20% currency increase plus a university fee revision or private-housing requirement.
Confirm the payment recipient and lawful transfer route before sending money. Avoid cash and unexplained personal accounts.
Six-year Uzbekistan budget worksheet
This worksheet uses six years as a planning layout. Confirm the actual programme and internship calendar before using it; extend the budget for any required period not covered by those years.
Calculate each year, then the whole course
Year total = tuition + compulsory charges + housing + living + insurance/registration + travel + clinical/language expenses.
Full-course estimate = Year 1 + Year 2 + Year 3 + Year 4 + Year 5 + Year 6 + any additional required period + India-pathway allowance + contingency.
Keep separate annual figures so a fee revision, different housing arrangement or changed exchange rate can be updated without rebuilding the entire budget. Label every line as confirmed quotation, dated estimate or unconfirmed.
| Budget line | Year 1 | Years 2–6 | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tuition | Official first-year fee | Annual fees with revision scenarios | University invoice and contract |
| University charges | Application, invitation and registration | Recurring academic and clinical charges | Written fee schedule |
| Accommodation | Deposit and annual/semester rent | Dormitory or private-rent scenarios | Written housing terms |
| Living costs | 12 monthly allowances | Annual allowance with inflation | City-specific student evidence |
| Visa, insurance and registration | Entry and setup | Renewals and annual cover | Government and university instructions |
| Travel | Initial journey plus return plan | At least one return journey per year | Route-based estimates |
| Language and clinical equipment | Initial materials and classes | Replacement or examination costs | Curriculum and university schedule |
| India pathway | Planning allowance | Update before graduation | Current NMC/NBEMS information |
| Contingency | Currency and emergency reserve | Recalculate annually | Family financial plan |
Add the annual totals, then test the higher-cost and stress scenarios. Our complete MBBS abroad cost guide provides the wider budgeting framework.

Frequently asked questions
What is the annual MBBS fee in Uzbekistan?
It varies by university, programme, payment period and intake. Request a current dated contract that separates tuition from compulsory charges. The older Bukhara fee page is not a current quotation; its Indian admissions are temporarily suspended for 2026–27 under the published notice. The previously cited Tashkent amount could not be reverified and has been removed.
Can Indian students currently apply to Bukhara for 2026–27?
The official 5 June 2026 notice announces a temporary suspension for applicants from India. No later reopening notice was found in the official announcements checked on 2 October 2026. Confirm a new official notice before paying or applying for this intake.
Is Uzbekistan cheaper than Russia for MBBS?
Some Uzbek institutions may quote lower tuition than some Russian universities, but tuition alone does not decide affordability. Compare the complete programme, housing, living, visa, travel, clinical, language and currency costs. Use our Russia versus Uzbekistan comparison.
Is hostel included in the tuition fee?
Do not assume it is included. Ask for a separate written housing offer with the room type, tariff, deposit, utilities and allocation conditions.
Is an English-medium programme available?
English-track claims must be verified with the university for the exact programme and intake. The confirmation should cover all academic years, examinations and required clinical instruction.
What did NMC say about Uzbekistan in 2026?
NMC issued a specific alert on 1 April 2026 advising Indian students to perform due diligence and comply strictly with the FMGL Regulations. Programme duration, internship, medium, clinical training and licensing eligibility require careful verification.
Can tuition or living costs increase?
Yes. University policy, housing availability, inflation and currency rates can change the rupee cost. Read the contract and recalculate the budget every year.
