Tashkent State Medical University for Indian students: explore the six-year General Medicine programme, the Tashkent Medical Academy merger, campus identity, admission evidence and full-course planning. Use this guide to understand what is published and which documents your family still needs before applying.
Quick answer: should Indian students consider TSMU?
Tashkent State Medical University is a public medical university created in 2025 through a merger of three institutions in Tashkent. Its WDOMS record lists a six-year Physician (General Medicine) programme. The university’s 2 April 2026 information notice describes English teaching for international students, hospital practical training in the sixth year and a once-yearly autumn admission process.
Those institution-wide statements do not confirm a new student’s 2026/27 English-medium seat or NMC eligibility. The separate foreign-applicant notice publishes a Russian/Uzbek application window that has already passed and says English admission details will follow. Obtain a current, intake-specific university confirmation before applying or paying.

Tashkent Medical Academy is now Tashkent State Medical University
Students searching for “Tashkent Medical Academy MBBS” are often using the legacy institution name. WDOMS records the 2025 merger of Tashkent Medical Academy, Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute and Tashkent State Dental Institute Faculty of Medicine to form Tashkent State Medical University. The university’s own April 2026 notice also describes the merger.
01 · LEGACY NAME
Tashkent Medical Academy
Historical documents and search results may still use TMA. Ask for an explanation of legacy names on current documents.
02 · CURRENT UNIVERSITY
Tashkent State Medical University
Check the legal institution, faculty, programme code and degree issuer on your own admission contract.
03 · YOUR CAMPUS
Main, Pediatric or Dental campus?
The official institutional page distinguishes campuses and branches. Get your assigned location in writing.
This guide concerns the university in Tashkent. A Termez or Chirchiq branch, an offshore arrangement or a similarly named institution must not be assumed to offer the same programme, teaching sites or licensing pathway. Confirm the actual campus, country of training and awarding institution.
General Medicine is the official programme term
Indian families often search for “MBBS at Tashkent Medical Academy,” while the official foreign-applicant notice calls the programme General Medicine and lists six years. The university’s bachelor programme catalogue includes General Medicine, code 60910200, in the International Faculty. WDOMS gives the qualification title Physician (General Medicine).
Confirm the current programme code and exact diploma title in the offer, curriculum and contract. The general domestic admissions calendar on the bachelor catalogue is not a substitute for the separate foreign-applicant process. Ask for instructions specifically for an Indian Class 12 applicant.
Programme duration, curriculum and internship checks
WDOMS records a six-year curriculum. Current TSMU teaching documents also use programme code 60910200 for General Medicine. Six calendar years alone do not prove how much time is academic education, supervised internship or clinical rotation.
Before applying, request:
- the complete semester-by-semester curriculum and academic calendar;
- the number of teaching weeks, examinations and vacation periods;
- the exact internship duration, departments, hospitals and supervision;
- clinical rotation schedules and student logbook requirements;
- confirmation that all education and internship occur in the permitted institution and country structure; and
- written eligibility for medical registration or licensing in Uzbekistan after graduation.
2026/27 admission status and language warning
Checked 4 October 2026: the foreign undergraduate applicant notice published a Russian/Uzbek application period of 22 June–30 July 2026. Those dates have passed. This page does not establish that a new undergraduate application is currently being accepted.
The notice requires fluency in the selected teaching language and a recorded Zoom interview in that language and the relevant subjects. It says English-medium admission information will be published separately. The university’s 2 April 2026 information notice describes an existing English-medium international General Medicine pathway, but it is not an intake-specific offer to a new applicant.
Later notices must be read for the correct study level: the July foreign-citizen announcement concerns clinical residency, and the 29 September English announcement concerns an October teaching class. Neither establishes a fresh undergraduate English application window. Ask for the latest dated undergraduate notice, deadline, interview and written confirmation of the proposed language before paying.
The autumn 2025 English admission announcement is historical evidence. It must not be treated as the application instructions for 2026/27.
How to verify English-medium study
WDOMS lists English among the programme languages. The university’s 2 April 2026 information notice states that international General Medicine students study in English and receive hospital practical training during the sixth year. These are published university statements; they do not independently establish that a particular cohort satisfies every NMC requirement.
The separate 2026/27 undergraduate admission notice still defers English admission details. Obtain a signed letter identifying your intake, programme, faculty, group and campus. It should cover lectures, practical classes, examinations, clinical teaching and documentation, internship supervision and final assessment across the complete programme.
Ask how Uzbek or Russian is taught for communication with patients and what proficiency is required before hospital placements. English learning materials alone do not establish a complete English-medium programme.
NMC and FMGL checks for Indian applicants
The National Medical Commission’s 2026 advisory concerning Uzbekistan asks students to perform due diligence and comply with the Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations, 2021.
Verify the exact TSMU programme against current requirements for:
- the duration of medical education and supervised internship;
- English as the required medium of instruction;
- mandatory medical subjects, practical work and clinical training;
- the institution and country in which education and internship occur;
- eligibility to register or practise in Uzbekistan; and
- the examination and supervised-internship pathway applicable in India.
Read the NMC and FMGL eligibility guide. NMC does not endorse a blanket list of “approved” foreign universities.
What the WDOMS listing proves
The WDOMS record identifies Tashkent State Medical University, Tashkent as public and operational, gives the merger history, and lists a six-year Physician (General Medicine) programme with Uzbek, Russian and English in its language field. It records foreign-student admission and an entrance examination.
Listing in WDOMS is directory evidence, not NMC or WHO approval, a guaranteed licence or proof of an open intake. Check any sponsor notes directly for the student’s intended destination. Admission eligibility, programme delivery, internship and licensing conditions still need separate verification.
Admission route and required documents
The official international process uses an online interview conducted by university professors and the International Faculty Dean’s Office. The 2025 English intake asked Indian applicants for their Class 12 record, NEET scorecard, photograph and passport or national photo ID. The current Russian/Uzbek notice lists an application, contact information, education record, passport copies and, where needed, a birth certificate.
- Confirm the current intake: use only a dated official notice for the selected language.
- Check Indian eligibility: review PCB and English marks, NEET validity, age and current NMC conditions.
- Attend the official interview: verify interviewer names and the university channel.
- Authenticate the letter: check the QR code and confirm the applicant, programme, language and intake.
- Review the contract: verify tuition, additional charges, beneficiary, increases and refund terms.
- Complete medical and visa steps: use the university’s current certificate, TELEX and A-1 visa instructions.
Use the documents and admission timeline to organise the process.
One autumn intake and no winter admission
TSMU’s official intake policy announcement says admissions will take place once per year in autumn and that claims about a winter intake are false. Treat a promise of January, February or other off-cycle admission as a red flag unless a newer official notice clearly replaces this policy.
The university’s 2026 call centre publishes multiple official numbers for current admission questions. Families should save the university’s written response and avoid relying only on messaging-app conversations with third parties.
Tuition and full-course budget
Targeted fee-source check: 16 October 2026. The official international-applicant rules explain contract-based study but do not give a programme-specific price. We did not verify a dated 2026/27 quotation for a foreign English-medium General Medicine applicant from the sources checked. A price for an older TMA intake or a different language group cannot fill that gap.
Keep the tuition line unconfirmed until the documents match
Ask for the university quotation
It should name the current legal institution, campus, General Medicine programme, language group and intake, then state the amount, currency and semester or year covered.
Check the conditions
Confirm instalments, payment deadlines, future increases, cancellation and refund terms, and the legal bank beneficiary. Reconcile different names or collection arrangements directly with the university.
Before paying: match the quotation to a current admission confirmation. A Russian/Uzbek admission notice does not confirm a new English-medium seat.
Separate tuition from application, interview, invitation, visa, residence registration, medical screening, insurance, laboratory, examination, clinical, internship, graduation, hostel, meals, books, uniforms, local travel and consultancy charges.
Use the quotation decision checklist and Uzbekistan total-cost guide to build base, higher-cost and exchange-rate stress scenarios. An unconfirmed cost should remain visibly unresolved in the budget.
Living costs: build a Tashkent budget from written quotes
Budget separately for accommodation, food, utilities, transport, insurance, residence registration, flights, books and a contingency reserve. A city-wide average is not a university hostel tariff or a guaranteed student budget.
Obtain a current hostel quotation or tenancy offer showing deposits, utilities, occupancy and payment dates. Compare the distance to your assigned campus and hospital sites. Add an exchange-rate buffer and keep an accommodation alternative until a room is allocated in writing.
Use our Uzbekistan full-course cost guide and MBBS abroad planning guide to organise your own verified figures.
Clinical training and teaching facilities
The university’s April 2026 notice describes hospital practical training during the sixth academic year. Its institutional page identifies clinical bases in Tashkent, and the September 2026 teaching announcement gives Republican Clinical Hospital No. 1 as a site for a sixth-year Medicine class. These show published teaching activity; they do not establish the complete schedule for an individual international cohort.
Request a year-by-year list of assigned hospitals, departments, patient exposure, rotation length, attendance, supervision, logbooks, assessment methods and teaching-language expectations. Ask whether transport between sites is needed and who pays for it. Have the university explain how sixth-year practical training is documented against the separate internship requirements applicable to the student.
Hostel and student life in Tashkent
The university’s international FAQ states that dormitory accommodation is provided for foreign citizens, and the 2025 reform update describes student dormitories serving the international community. Neither statement guarantees a room for every 2026/27 applicant.
Obtain a written allocation that states the building, address, occupancy, gender arrangements, tariff, deposit, utilities, heating, internet, kitchen or meal access, security, curfew, distance to campus and clinical sites, and move-in dates. Keep private accommodation in the budget until the room is confirmed.
Student visa and arrival procedure
The university states that enrolled international students must travel using an A-1 student visa issued after its invitation or TELEX process. Its 2025 admission steps required tuition confirmation and medical certificates before TELEX processing. Tourist visas and invitations issued by unrelated third parties were not accepted for enrolment.
Uzbekistan’s official visa guidance describes the A-1 category for students. Do not book a non-refundable flight until the university confirms the visa, reporting date and accommodation. Carry original academic documents, passport, admission documents, payment receipt, medical and vaccination records, insurance and hostel information.
Documents families should verify
| Document | Essential checks | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Official intake notice | Year, language, deadline and application route | Older English notices do not prove a 2026/27 English seat |
| Programme evidence | Code, duration, curriculum, medium, clinical plan and internship | Establishes what the student will actually study |
| Admission letter | QR verification, current institution name, programme and language | Reduces fake-letter and identity risks |
| Tuition contract | Amount, currency, beneficiary, increases and refunds | Separates university charges from agent packages |
| Medium letter | All academic years, exams, clinical work and internship | Needed for programme-level language review |
| Internship plan | Months, hospitals, rotations, supervision and logbook | A six-year label does not show internship compliance |
| Licensing confirmation | Eligibility to register or practise in Uzbekistan | Relevant to FMGL programme review |
| Hostel allocation | Room, tariff, deposit and dates | General availability is not a guaranteed bed |
Red flags before paying
- An English-medium 2026/27 seat is promised without a current official notice or signed university confirmation.
- A “winter intake” is offered despite the university’s published once-yearly autumn policy.
- The offer names Tashkent Medical Academy while the contract, invoice or bank account names an unexplained third party.
- Payment is requested to an individual or non-university account.
- A WDOMS listing is presented as “WHO approval” or “NMC approval.”
- The six-year duration is treated as proof of a compliant internship without a rotation schedule.
- A consultancy guarantees admission, visa approval, FMGE/NExT success or Indian registration.
Use the foreign medical university verification checklist before paying.

Official sources and review date
Fee-source follow-up, 16 October 2026: general international-applicant rules and the foreign undergraduate notice were checked for tuition applicability. No programme-specific English-track price was verified. The broader programme and regulatory review below retains its 4 October date.
Checked 4 October 2026. Source dates and study levels matter. A historical English notice, a postgraduate residency notice or a university-wide statement must not be treated as a new undergraduate offer.
- Foreign undergraduate applicant notice — Russian/Uzbek window of 22 June–30 July 2026; English intake information to follow.
- University information notice, 2 April 2026 — merger, existing English teaching, six-year General Medicine and autumn intake statements. University claims do not replace regulatory verification.
- Bachelor programme catalogue — General Medicine and faculty entries; domestic calendar should not be confused with foreign admission instructions.
- Official university profile — state institution, campuses and branches.
- WDOMS record F0002249 — identity, merger and programme listing; not approval or a guarantee of eligibility.
- NMC Uzbekistan advisory, 1 April 2026 (PDF) — names TSMU and calls for extreme caution and FMGL verification.
- Teaching announcement, 29 September 2026 — sixth-year hospital class, not an admissions notice.
- Campus photograph source — report describing August 2025 grounds-maintenance activities.
Admission dates, costs, accommodation and regulatory requirements can change. Save the latest official documents and reconfirm them with the university and relevant authorities before payment.
